BLUESPEC ACKNOWLEDGES DOE AND IAEA PROBES INTO ITS ATOMIC TRANSACTIONS

– Denies Commercial Activities Tied to Nuclear Proliferation –

Waltham, Mass. – April 1, 2008Bluespec Inc., developers of the industry's only general purpose high-level synthesis solution, today announced Department of Energy (DOE) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) probes into Bluespec’s atomic transactions. While conceding increased atomic proliferation, Bluespec assured governmental bodies that its technology was civilian in nature despite capabilities that went far beyond ‘dual use’, including modeling, verification and implementation.

“We have extensive first-person forensic evidence of Bluespec dealing in ‘atomic transactions’ and providing designers with ‘weapons of mass construction’,” DOE spokesperson Emily Litella radiated.

“Though we are 100% focused on bringing forth a new atomic age, to release the energy of the masses, there’s no need to go nuclear on us,” glowed Charlie Hauck, CEO of Bluespec, Inc. “Atomic transactions may be the world’s most powerful expression of concurrency. And, Bluespec may have the most powerful, and only, vehicle to deliver these capabilities for hardware design. But we emphatically refuse to stop the enrichment of our tools. The DOE and IAEA actions threaten to stifle the chain reaction that’s begun around our tools – just when we’re about to go critical.”

Hans Blix had personally admonished Hauck for ‘cat and mouse’ games and had warned Bluespec of ‘serious consequences’ if it attempted to hinder or delay his mission. He was assured, however, that although Bluespec's procedures were fully functional, their evaluators were so lazy that they were unlikely to affect him in any way.

“I'd intended my research on Haskell and functional programming for peaceful purposes,” responded Simon Peyton Jones, a researcher at Microsoft. “These allegations are nothing short of explosive.”

“I’m puzzled how they came to this misunderstanding about our technology. We’ve never, nor will we ever, split an atom. The transactions are atomic dag-nabbit – that’s the point!” reacted Rishiyur S. Nikhil, CTO of Bluespec, Inc. “World domination may be part of the plan, but only with chip design. I’ve got three words for ESL solutions that are really only good for loop-and-array algorithms or testbench development – duck-and-cover.”

Even Sun is now acknowledging the importance of atomic thinking with their new processor. "People have very short Transactional Memories," fused a spokesperson for the American Physical Society, "we've always maintained that the sun is powered by atomic energy."

A customer who wishes to remain anonymous stated, "Having used Bluespec for the last year, I think there is some nuclear power under the covers. It’s the only way I can explain the productivity gains. I hope the IAEA restricts Bluespec's atomic proliferation before it finds its way to my evil competitors."

Another stated, "I am tired of dealing with languages and tools whose half-life is measured in months. Bluespec is the right isotope, its strong atom basis resists decay."

Bluespec assured its customer base that operations were business-as-usual despite having to work daily under the watchful eyes of thirty IAEA inspectors.

About Bluespec
Bluespec Inc. manufactures an industry standards-based Electronic Design Automation (EDA) toolset that significantly raises the level of abstraction for hardware design while retaining the ability to automatically synthesize high-quality RTL, without compromising speed, power or area. Elevating System-on-Chip (SoC) modeling, verification and implementation with atomic transactions, the only high-level abstraction for hardware concurrency, the general purpose toolset allows ASIC and FPGA teams to reduce development time, bugs and re-spins that contribute to product delays and escalating costs.
