BLUESPEC
APPOINTS ANALOG DEVICES EXECUTIVE BRIAN MCALOON
TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
–
Group Vice President of DSP, Media and Communications
at Analog to Provide Business and Market Expertise
as EDA Tool Company Continues to Expand Its Global
Market Presence –
Waltham,
Mass. – May 23, 2005 – Bluespec,
Inc. (www.bluespec.com),
developer of the only behavioral synthesis toolset
for control logic and complex datapaths, announced
today that Brian McAloon, group vice president,
DSP, Media and Communications Products for Analog
Devices, has joined Bluespec's Board of Directors.
With
Analog Devices since 1987, McAloon has been serving
in his current position since 2001 where he is
responsible for Analog‘s General Purpose DSP products,
wireless handset and broadband chipsets, and various
audio and video processing solutions.
“McAloon
is a proven leader who deeply understands today's
challenges in successfully developing and marketing
complex semiconductors," said Bluespec CEO
Shiv Tasker. "His tremendous track record,
wealth of experience, and direct industry knowledge
will be a strong addition to our board as we continue
to tackle the design and verification issues escalating
in the chip industry.”
Analog
Devices, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets
high-performance analog, mixed signal and digital
signal processing integrated circuits (ICs) used
in signal processing for industrial, communication,
computer and consumer applications.
McAloon
began his Analog career as General Manager of
Analog's Irish Division before becoming Vice President
of Europe in 1991 and then Vice President of Worldwide
Sales and Marketing in 1992.
Prior
to joining Analog Devices, McAloon held a number
of senior management positions in Design, Manufacturing
and Sales with National Semiconductor in Scotland
and South East Asia . He holds a BSEE from Glasgow
University in Scotland .
"Chip
design complexity is making it increasingly difficult
for companies to get product to market fast while
containing cost and maintaining quality,” said McAloon.
“Bluespec's EDA toolset can be a compelling solution
for silicon design teams to expedite the development
process and reduce escalating cost and quality issues.
This is a great opportunity for me to contribute
to Bluespec who I am sure will drive much needed
change in design techniques.”
About
Bluespec
Bluespec Inc. manufactures an industry standards-based
Electronic Design Automation (EDA) toolset that
significantly raises the level of abstraction
for hardware design while retaining the ability
to automatically synthesize high quality RTL,
without compromising speed, power or area. The
toolset, the only one focused on control and complex
datapaths, allows ASIC and FPGA designers to significantly
reduce design time, bugs and re-spins that contribute
to product delays and escalating costs. More information
